Sunlight Christian Academy offers a variety of afterschool programs for our K-5 students. Programs run for 12-weeks and two sessions (fall/spring) are offered annually.
- Basketball 3-5- students learn the game of basketball and demonstrate their skills for staff, students and families by playing in an actual game at the end of the session. Group Size - 16
- Career Club Play Group K-2- students enjoy a scaffolded play environment with props, materials, supplies, and decor modeled after a variety of work environments (veterinary clinic, pizza shop, ice cream parlor, etc.) where they will work together to enjoy role playing the day-to-day aspects of potential future careers. Group size - 10
- Cheerleading K-2- students focus on cheerleading skills, learn a half-time dance, and demonstrate their skills for staff, students and families during an actual SCA basketball or volleyball game. Group size - 12
- Chess Club K-2 – students benefit from computer based innovative learning tools such as original stories, movement games, teamwork assignments, developmental puzzles, and more, to acquire basic beginning chess skills. Group size - 12
- Cooking with Nana K-1, 2-5- students learn how to measure and mix ingredients to create their favorite recipes, followed by the ultimate taste test! Group size - 10 to 12
- Creative Stitching 3-5 – students learn the art of needlepoint, creating designs of their choice. Group Size - 12
- Gardening Club 3-5 – students learn the fundamentals of gardening with a hands-on approach, tending to our beautiful Sunlight garden. Group Size - 12
- Hip Hop K-2 – students learn a hip hop routine and will be featured in our Christmas musical theater production. Group Size - 12
- Let’s Talk About…3-5 – girls gather in a safe space with a certified Health Teacher for discussions about life’s issues addressing physical, mental, emotional & social health. (topics: self-esteem, hygiene, bullying, nutrition, decision making, etc) Group Size – 12
- Musical Theatre 3-5 - students receive training in singing, acting, dancing and performance techniques while collaborating on a musical theatre production. Group Size - 10
- Reading Tutoring 1-2 / 3-5 - small groups of students participate in individual and group instruction/activities with an Academic Support Specialist to keep them on track. Group Size – 6
- Math Tutoring 1-2 / 3-5 - small groups of students participate in individual and group instruction/activities with an Academic Support Specialist to keep them on track. Group Size – 6
- STEM Club K-2 – students participate in a variety of STEM activities with peers exploring scientific concepts, piquing their curiosity, and promoting collaboration and social skills. Group Size - 12
- Tennis K-2 – students will learn the fundamentals of tennis working on gross motor skills and having fun! Group Size - 12
- Volleyball 3-5 - students learn the game of volleyball and demonstrate their skills for staff, students and families by playing in an actual game at the end of the session. Group Size - 16
